Description

These delicious Stuffed Cabbage Rolls are filled with a savory mixture of ground beef, rice, and vegetables, all wrapped in tender cabbage leaves and simmered in a flavorful tomato and beef broth sauce. A classic comfort food that’s perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and place the whole head of cabbage in the boiling water. Boil for 2 minutes, then carefully remove the outer leaves. Continue boiling and removing leaves until you have 12 large leaves. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, rice, onion, carrots, celery, 1/2 cup of crushed tomatoes, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Roll up, tucking in the sides, and place seam side down in a baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Pour over the cabbage rolls.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the meat is cooked through.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can freeze leftover cabbage rolls for later use. Simply wrap them tightly in foil or plastic wrap and store them in an airtight container.
  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning to taste by adding more garlic powder, paprika, or even some crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef for a lighter version.
