Description

Tater Tot Casserole is a comforting, hearty meal that combines ground beef, creamy soup, sour cream, and melted cheese topped with crispy tater tots. It’s a perfect dish for family dinners or potlucks, with minimal prep time and big flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • ½ cup sour cream

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, or any favorite spices

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  • Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened.

  • Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Mix well.

  • Season with salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings (like garlic powder or paprika).

  • Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.

  • Spread the beef mixture evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Arrange the frozen tater tots on top of the beef mixture in a single layer.

  • Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the tater tots.

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the tater tots are golden and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef for a lighter version.

  • Add extra vegetables, such as peas or green beans, to make it more hearty.

  • For a spicier version, sprinkle some red pepper flakes or add hot sauce to the beef mixture.
