Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Meatballs:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Mushroom Gravy:
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
    • 2 cups beef broth
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatballs:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into 1-inch diameter meatballs.
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • Make the Mushroom Gravy:
    • In the same skillet, cook the sliced mushrooms until browned and tender, about 5 minutes.
    • Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
    • Gradually stir in the beef broth and water, ensuring no flour lumps remain. Bring to a simmer.
  • Combine and Simmer:
    • Return the browned meatballs to the skillet. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve:
    • Serve the Salisbury steak meatballs with mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta. Enjoy your homemade meal!
