Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 can chocolate frosting
- 12 chocolate ice cream cones
- Orange food coloring
- Sprinkles or decorations of your choice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions (usually combine cake mix with water, vegetable oil, and eggs).
- Fill each cupcake liner 2/3 full with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, mix a few drops of orange food coloring into the chocolate frosting until the desired color is achieved.
- Frost each cupcake with the orange frosting, smoothing it out evenly.
- Carefully place a chocolate ice cream cone upside down on top of each frosted cupcake, forming a “witch’s hat.”
- Decorate with sprinkles or other Halloween-themed decorations to resemble a witch’s hat (optional: use black sprinkles for extra flair or candy eyes for a fun touch).
Notes
- If you prefer homemade frosting, you can use a simple buttercream frosting tinted orange instead of store-bought chocolate frosting.
- Make sure the cupcakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent the icing from melting.
- For extra creativity, use black licorice strings or candy for the “brim” of the witch’s hat.
