Cheesy Hamburger Rice Casserole

A comforting and hearty casserole that combines seasoned ground beef, creamy rice, and melted cheese, perfect for a family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese for topping
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is softened.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add the uncooked rice and mix well. Pour in the milk and stir to combine.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the rice is tender.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the Parmesan is golden brown.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in some vegetables like bell peppers or corn.
