Scale
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon dry active yeast
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for the dough)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • ½ cup sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the milk and boiling water.
  • Add the dry active yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine the yeast mixture with the flour, sugar, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
  • Knead the dough until smooth, then cover with a towel and let it rise for 1 hour.
